LATEST RELEASE

LEGACY OF THE RIPPER, THE SEQUEL TO A STUDY IN RED

Following on from the success of ‘A Study in Red – The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper’, Brian L Porter’s sequel to the original, ‘Legacy of the Ripper’ has now been released by Double Dragon Publishing, (Ontario) and is currently available in paperback and e-book editions.
Production of the movie version of ‘A Study in Red’ is making progress and Brian is delighted to announce that he has also signed with Thunderball Films for movie production of ‘Legacy of the Ripper’

About the book:

Jack Thomas Reid, nephew of Robert Cavendish who first appeared in A Study in Red – The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper languishes in the secure Ravenswood Psychiatric Hospital, sentenced to confinement ‘at Her Majesty’s Pleasure’ for a series of apparent ‘Jack the Ripper’ copycat killings in the picturesque English coastal resort of Brighton. Jack’s defence at his trial, that he is a descendant of Jack the Ripper and that the crimes were conducted by an unknown ‘mystery man’ and that Jack was drugged and made to appear as the killer was regarded as so preposterous and unbelievable that his sentence was never in doubt. When one of the policemen who conducted the original investigation into the murders begins to doubt the truth of the case against Reid, Sergeant Carl Wright and Ripperologist Alice Nickels begin an investigation into his story. What they find is told through the voice of Doctor Ruth Truman, Jack’s psychiatrist at Ravenswood, and through a series of events that take place as far afield as the beautiful island of Malta and in Warsaw, Poland. Slowly but surely and with the help of Wright’s boss Inspector Mike Holland, the link between the events that shocked and terrorised Whitechapel over a century ago, and their link with the case of Jack Thomas Reid and the ‘Legacy of Jack the Ripper’ is revealed.

The book is currently available from Amazon.com at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1554046904 ISBN 1554046904 and will soon be available from Amazon UK as well as from other retailers.
The e-book version can be obtained from http://www.double-dragon-ebooks.com/single.php?ISBN=1-55404-689-0 ISBN 1554046890

Story Summary Robert Cavendish is bereft with grief at his father’s recent passing. He was also surprised to learn his father bequeathed Robert a mysterious journal to be read after his death. Read by him and him alone. As he reads the journal, he comes to realize that he holds in his hands the actual rantings and admissions of Jack the Ripper! But that, as they say, is only the beginning. From those pages Robert discovers the answer to old mysteries and atrocities, answers that lead him down a path of horror and insanity. What affect can the secret ravings of a murderer such as Jack the Ripper have on a person? And what connection did Robert’s father have to this secret journal?

Opinion
I was immediately struck by the enormous amount of research that went into A Study in Red (The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper). It brought 18th century London to life, making the story almost palpable. For over a hundred years, the mystery of Jack the Ripper has been investigated, written about, and discussed, but never like this. I could feel the cobblestones under my feet, hear the horses and carriages and smell the foul air of the London back alleyways.

The journal was an interesting tool, bringing the reader directly into Jack’s world and the insanity inflicting him. Experiencing the journal with Robert was intense as the mysteries unfold page by page. The suspense kept me engrossed well into the late evening hours, just as Robert had… I can feel the goose bumps now.

The identity of Jack the Ripper has been explored, but never in such a deliciously nail biting manner. Although fiction, the possibilities of who Jack really was and where he came from as well as his unfortunate victims felt all too real thanks to the obvious hard work of the author to create this sensational tale.

THE VOICE OF ANTON BOUCHARD

The cover of my latest paperback release from Mythica Publshing. 'The Voice of Anton Bouchard' is a short story collection, with the title piece being a novelette length tale that takes the reader deep inside the mind of a serial killer who is stalking the streets of Paris during a long hot summer. What is surprising in this story is not so much how the killer despatches his vicitms, but why he does it. Other titles in the collection include 'Breathing to Death', 'Red Sky in the Morning', 'Megalith', 'An Alien Abduction', 'The Sound of Silence', 'Bodies in the Cellar', and a sample of four chapters from my latest work in progress.

REVIEW
The Voice Of Anton Bouchard - (Kristina Dalton)
Mr. Porter carries through on the promise of his earlier works, delivering plot twists and elements of amazing imagination in a collection of stories that will entertain, provoke thought and satisfy. I recommend this as a refreshing read for both sci-fi fans and people like me who have not read much in that genre. It definitely has something for everyone. ~ Kristina Dalton author of Vampire's Lover, The King's Right, The Ring, Taken, Unleashed, Untold

KISS OF LIFE
I'm thrilled to announce that Mythica Publishing will soon be releasing 'Kiss of Life' in both paperback and e-book editions. The novella is the sequel to my vampire tale 'Dracula Doesn't Live Here Anymore' recently released in paperback by Eternal Press, and which is picking up some great reviews from readers at Amazon. Graeme S Houston has once again surpassed himself with the stunning cover design for the book and the story itself takes up the tale a year after the events described in the original novelette.

No such things as vampires?

Kiss of Life from Brian L Porter

Investigative journalist Alan Dexter is beset by a recurring nightmare, in which the woman he met and fell in love with a year previously in Romania, appears to him as a vampire, calling to him in the depths of night. Convinced that the dream is a plea for help from the beautiful Christina Radaluć, Dexter tries to contact her through her employer at the Romanian News Agency, only to hear that she has been missing for two months. He enlists the help of his long-time friend and fellow journalist Karen Bailey, and the two intrepid journalists board a flight to Bucharest, and begin a dramatic and at times terrifying search for the woman of his dreams. As they journey into the mountains of remote and legendary Transylvania Dexter and Karen must face not only the perils of a Romanian winter, but the terrifying and brutal reality that slowly unravels as they learn the truth surrounding the disappearance of Christina.

Dexter and Christina first appeared in the author’s novelette Dracula Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, published by Eternal Press. Read the story of their first meeting and the series of murders they must solve together in the thrilling prequel to Kiss of Life, available in paperback from Amazon.com or in e-book directly from Eternal Press.

Detective Inspector Harry Houston and his specialist team of murder investigators must piece together the complex web that links the deaths across nations and leads to a terrifying conclusion as the story of The Nemesis Cell unfolds!

Purple Death

Tranquil suburban Richmond-on-Thames, home to such landmarks as Hampton Court Palace and Kew Gardens becomes the setting for a series of shocking and particularly gruesome murders that leads Detective Inspector Sean Connor and his team into a labyrinthine investigation in which all roads lead towards a thirty year old unsolved murder. The victims, all apparently unconnected to each other, are being despatched by the use of a singularly unique poison, previously more closely associated with the notorious medieval Borgia family.

As the murders begin to multiply at an alarming rate Connor finds clues hard to come by, and every lead takes him down yet another blind alley as the killer seems to be one step ahead of the police at every turn. Together, he and his assistant Sergeant Lucy Clay must piece together the shreds of evidence that will lead them to the mysterious ‘Chocolate Woman’ and in turn to the brain behind the horrific murders that soon come to be known as ‘The Purple Death’

Paranormal Romance/Vampire
Mystery
eBook

Rating:

Brian L. Porter has a gift of spinning a short tale with enough detail and suspense to satisfy mystery and paranormal fans alike.

DRACULA DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE benefits from the author's careful research woven with creativity and flair. The author brings his characters to life in such a prolific way that you feel like you are sitting right next to them in a drafty inn in a Romanian village.

A new twist on a classic tale.

Happily, the solid, unpredictable story and well detailed characterization are well worthy of anyone's time and definitely deserves a 4 Klover rating.

Wow, sorry to hear about the publisher issue! That book looks to be exactly the kind of book that I can get into, so I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for it. Scandalous history always gets my attention!

Of course, i know you're quite a busy man. I just don't get around as often as I should these days with all that's going on. Keep in touch, okay? Hope you have a wonderful evening, my friend! Once again, congrats on your well deserved awards!
