Hey James!

Welcome aboard. I think you'll find many fine warped minds here to play with!

"I'm generally somewhat embarassed by the stuff I wrote anything more than a year ago, but I'll see what I can find kicking around my hard drive."

I know what you mean. Anything of mine over two years old makes me cringe. -_-

Italy is great, but the view of the stars isn't quite as nice as it is in Texas. But the food and the people do make up for it. I also have a great view of the Alps from my window. Of course, the downside is, it's freaking cold nine months out of the year. 0.o (And don't even get me started on the post office -_- )

I'm glad to hear you liked my story, and if you have a chance to check out any of my other stories, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. I'd also like to check out your writing, if possible.

I live!

I joined up here a while ago, bug got eaten by a 21-hour schedule for my final semester of college. However, that is over now (I've got my shiny new degree in Creative Writing/Japanese) and I should be able to devote braintime once again to the pleasure of writing horror and bumming around this community.

So hello again, y'all. :)

Storytellers Unplugged

Three Editing Tips

So the first draft is finished, and now you have to edit the sonofabitch.

Most writers don’t particularly enjoy the task of rewriting/editing, but I do. Not sure why, but I find it sometimes more rewarding than the initial writing.

Now, for me, the best way [...]

On Getting Started

Being new to Storytellers this month, I’ve had “beginnings” on the brain. It was for this reason that I’d decided to take a look at some of the things that have motivated successful authors over the years. I’ve always been fascinated by that tiny seed that grows up to be a towering [...]

The Anatomy and Creation of a Story Pt. 2

This is an ongoing discussion of the process I use to write short stories…not that there is a set process, as it’s different each time.  I started this in “Part One” back on my personal blog, and wanted to continue here to mix up the audience as much as possible.

In part one, I discussed the [...]

“This soap box is not big enough for the both of us.”

I asked readers for topics they would like to see me address in this blog, and I got a slew of great responses, something that will keep me in columns for a few months to come.

Here’s the question that got top billing for [...]

Providence, 1986

Providence, 1986 Wayne Allen Sallee 28 November 2009

I have a road trip, of sorts, ahead of me in a few hours. A zig-zag across the transit system of Chicago. I’m heading up north, but first I have to take the 55th Street bus to an artist friend’s place and drop off a few autographed books. There is [...]
