Hey dude,

Thanks for the compliment. I didn't think people actually read them much past the title.

What do you teach with music? I got a 4 yr old who loves Johnny Cash and KISS. The first song he ever sang to me was 'Godzilla' by BOC. Can this child be helped?

So... how much coffee would you say you drink? Me, I'm trying to consume enough to solely support a third world country. :-D

Dude, I was just visiting my In-Laws in Wayne, WV this past weekend! Cut over to Louisa for some fine strip mall Chinese Food. Even got a tour of your fine high school football field.

Sure, we have no idea who the other is but now that you're on the GST Network, heck, next time wave! I'll be the guy with the beard and Hello Kitty T-Shirt.

Hi Jason and welcome to the group.

Profile Information

Hometown:
Fort Gay, West Virginia
About Me:
Heya all. I'm an author and poet of horror and the macabre residing in rural Louisa, KY.

A native to the Appalachian mountains, I fed my need for horror at a young age with the dark tales and lore found prevalently around the area before acquiring a taste for the works of Poe, Lovecraft, and Stephen King.

I spend the downtime between my day-job teaching music and the urks of writing drinking lots of coffee and watching horror movies alongside my wife Bo-jaye and my pets(children); a troublesome Boston Terrier named Bella and a shy and lethargic cat named Jasper.

Read absolutely everything I can get my hands on, and end up changing a Favorite Books list on a weekly basis. So I'll just save the space and say "Majority of All Books"

Famous Monsters Of Filmland Returns To Print

Famous Monsters of Filmland, the classic sci-fi/horror/fantasy-specific film magazine that captured the imaginations of so many for more than three decades, today announced its return to print.

Resurrection House – Book Review

The eight reprinted and two new stories in Resurrection House horrifically reflect reminders of the fragility of being human.

Ron Breznay’s Old Masters of Horror: Charles Dickens

For many people, Christmas isn’t complete without Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” – whether they read the story, go to the local theater to see a stage production, or watch one of the many movie versions.

Storytellers Unplugged

One more Q&A

In January, I’ll be back to trying to think of my own content again, but here’s December’s Q&A:

Q: How about the writing lessons you’ve learned along the way? Anything from outlining to editing your own work.

Try to write every day.

Take notes. No matter how certain you are that you could never possibly forget the incredibly [...]

Okay, I am actually quite afraid

So I know the last time I blogged here, I proudly proclaimed I had no fear. Well. That was specific to the new publishing wilderness. I have tons of fear. I’m full of the stuff.

A nasty farmer inside me plants festering seeds that grow with my insecurities to fertilize. What if this story sucks? What if [...]

Dream Versus Time, Life, the World, And All The Really Important Things

The holidays are coming.  We’re arriving at an intersection of worlds – the real and the imagined, outer and inner, concrete and symbolic, the past and the now.

What must be done, what needs to be done.

Kids dressed up as monsters expect candy offerings.  Blood-bonded friends and enemies gather for the ritual slaughter [...]

Secret Agent Man

Secret agent man, secret agent man,

They’ve given you a number and taken away your name.

Show of hands:  how many of you are happy with your literary agent?  My guess is that probably fewer than half of you are raising your hands.  In my writing life I have had three agents.  When I was with agent [...]

Three Editing Tips

So the first draft is finished, and now you have to edit the sonofabitch.

Most writers don’t particularly enjoy the task of rewriting/editing, but I do. Not sure why, but I find it sometimes more rewarding than the initial writing.

Now, for me, the best way [...]
