Hey Michael! Thanks for adding me, and I'll try to keep up the dark tales. Probably a given at this point, right?

Hey, so let me know about 'Victim'. Sounds interesting.

What's up, you say? You mean besides my blood pressure?

Actually, I've been quite busy lately. I've been scrambling to finish some illustration projects as well as illustrations and poems for a forthcoming poetry collection. And that's on top of spreading the news about my poetry publications in various magazines and e-zines.

The life of a writer/artist - the work never really ends.

Finally got my copy of Twisted Tongue yesterday and wanted to tell you how creepy fun your story was! It's kinda how I wished 'Cocoon' would have ended. And although I'll probably never be able to eat squirrel again, I enjoyed it, dude.

Continued success and knocking down of doors in 2008, my friend!

Keep that wonderful mojo going and hopefully the rest of us will be catching up soon enough!

A lot of pre-writing goes on in my brain before my fingers ever touch the keys, too. A lot of times I will go over stuff before I fall asleep as well, it can be very relaxing unless I hit a snag ; )

BOKEN Accepted to OSS2

I just got word that my short story, BOKEN, has been accepted to the anthology "Our Shadows Speak, Volume 2". Cool! It's the story of young Getty, sent to juvie at age 17, where the troubled boys are accosted in the night by a creature with the power to paralyze...and feed.

Yet Getty manages to fight back.

I hope you'll check it out! It is edited by Lincoln Crisler.

OFF TRACK, novel to be published by Lilley Press

Just got word! My novel, OFF TRACK, has been accepted and will be published by Lilley Press, a new small press in Canada. Wish me luck! The contract has been signed and is traveling to them as we speak. Next will be the editing phase, and I hope to see it out early this year, first as an ebook, then to print. We'll see where it goes. A bit about the story...

OFF TRACK: At 12 years old, Gary Sanderson found himself in the oppressive juvenile detention facility for boys called 'Radcl

"Colugo Men" accepted for THE BEAST WITHIN

I'm happy to announce that my short story, "Colugo Men" was accepted for the forthcoming "The Beast Within" anthology by Graveside Tales. It's a tale of a man who stalks and seeks revenge on the weredog that killed his grandson. I hope you enjoy it!

New Story Accepted - Twisted Tongue

My short story, INFESTED, has been accepted for "Twisted Tongue" magazine #9. It's a creeped out story about a man whose wife has been infested with something he can't recognize, causing her to change into something sinister. I'll post a link to the magazine, due out in 2008.

VICTIM

I just received a screener copy of the film, VICTIM, that I co-wrote. It has been sent to some festivals for review, including Toronto, in search of distribution. If all goes well, the film should be out sometime next year in theaters, though nothing is yet set in stone. I was happily surprised to see the movie, which was filmed on a $500,000 budget, quite a low budget. Still, I loved how it came out. Overall, it was well acted and the director stayed true to the script, changing very little.

Three Editing Tips

So the first draft is finished, and now you have to edit the sonofabitch.

Most writers don’t particularly enjoy the task of rewriting/editing, but I do. Not sure why, but I find it sometimes more rewarding than the initial writing.

Now, for me, the best way [...]

On Getting Started

Being new to Storytellers this month, I’ve had “beginnings” on the brain. It was for this reason that I’d decided to take a look at some of the things that have motivated successful authors over the years. I’ve always been fascinated by that tiny seed that grows up to be a towering [...]

The Anatomy and Creation of a Story Pt. 2

This is an ongoing discussion of the process I use to write short stories…not that there is a set process, as it’s different each time.  I started this in “Part One” back on my personal blog, and wanted to continue here to mix up the audience as much as possible.

In part one, I discussed the [...]

Providence, 1986 Wayne Allen Sallee 28 November 2009

I have a road trip, of sorts, ahead of me in a few hours. A zig-zag across the transit system of Chicago. I’m heading up north, but first I have to take the 55th Street bus to an artist friend’s place and drop off a few autographed books. There is [...]
