Santa was okay. Mild holiday which is the best present of all.

But to be honest, I'm kinda eager for all the siblings and their kids and great aunts and out of state friends to give that one last hug so I can wave to them all as they let me have a clear shot to my own fridge.

But that's only because I'm old and cantankerous and so damn hateful when dealing with humanity as a whole.

Ho ho ho. Everyone get off my lawn. And Happy New Years!

How was your holiday? Anything special?

Hey, a bunch of people on um, the computer, I think like google it was um, said you like to beat baby seals over the head with um, spotted owls. And you laugh the whole time you're doing it.

I just want you to know I think you walk on water and are a wonderful person. Not like these other chat room people from like um, wikapedia who say such awful things probably out of jealousy!

True Friends Forever. I got your back, buddy! And I'm not making any of this up, I swear!

Um, Greg

Chicka, Chicka 123? That sounds like one of those movies on Showtime my mom won't let me watch...

You know what another great book is? Little Rabbit Foo-Foo! What an ending!

Most of my horror is based off of that brilliant piece of literature.

Famous Monsters Of Filmland Returns To Print

Famous Monsters of Filmland, the classic sci-fi/horror/fantasy-specific film magazine that captured the imaginations of so many for more than three decades, today announced its return to print.

Resurrection House – Book Review

The eight reprinted and two new stories in Resurrection House horrifically reflect reminders of the fragility of being human.

Ron Breznay’s Old Masters of Horror: Charles Dickens

For many people, Christmas isn’t complete without Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” – whether they read the story, go to the local theater to see a stage production, or watch one of the many movie versions.

Storytellers Unplugged

One more Q&A

In January, I’ll be back to trying to think of my own content again, but here’s December’s Q&A:

Q: How about the writing lessons you’ve learned along the way? Anything from outlining to editing your own work.

Try to write every day.

Take notes. No matter how certain you are that you could never possibly forget the incredibly [...]

Okay, I am actually quite afraid

So I know the last time I blogged here, I proudly proclaimed I had no fear. Well. That was specific to the new publishing wilderness. I have tons of fear. I’m full of the stuff.

A nasty farmer inside me plants festering seeds that grow with my insecurities to fertilize. What if this story sucks? What if [...]

Dream Versus Time, Life, the World, And All The Really Important Things

The holidays are coming.  We’re arriving at an intersection of worlds – the real and the imagined, outer and inner, concrete and symbolic, the past and the now.

What must be done, what needs to be done.

Kids dressed up as monsters expect candy offerings.  Blood-bonded friends and enemies gather for the ritual slaughter [...]

Secret Agent Man

Secret agent man, secret agent man,

They’ve given you a number and taken away your name.

Show of hands:  how many of you are happy with your literary agent?  My guess is that probably fewer than half of you are raising your hands.  In my writing life I have had three agents.  When I was with agent [...]

Three Editing Tips

So the first draft is finished, and now you have to edit the sonofabitch.

Most writers don’t particularly enjoy the task of rewriting/editing, but I do. Not sure why, but I find it sometimes more rewarding than the initial writing.

Now, for me, the best way [...]
