"And now we have a plan. We're organized, we're thinking with our heads on (after we put them back on) and we've got the man (or rather zombie) power to put them into effect. We're gonna do it. We're going to take over the whole damn government. We're going to install a zombie in the highest office and we're going to re-write the meaning of existence. Just you wait and see if'n we don't."

Random New Year's Poemy Type Thing For 2009!

Sorry, I just woke up. Haven't been on the computer since last morn.
So here it is, a whole new 'nother year that sparkled and born.
Jesus, man I just got finished fixing the last one that was torn.
Nothing left to do, I fear me this time, except to get on the horn
Call over the General and let him know that his time is worn.

By the bollocks of old Gods and simple men
Know it now that the gregarious monsters
Are writing their poetry and prose
And estimates are nearing
About the doom
Soon to clo… Continue

Feed Me! This December Rot That Sits Below My Soul

Well, good even, friends and neighbors and people I only know through nefarious devices both crafted and bestowed! Electronic or analogue, the end is the same. I hail ye all in good spirits and health, and ask you nicely, won't you, could you, please you in good manner:

Feed me.

How goes it this day, this night, this moment of eager and fright?
Fare thee well? Fare thee hale and whole and happy bright?
Work and water, fire and branch - all in balance, all is nice?
Is everything going your way,… Continue

Dear Blog - Entry July 24 in the year of our Lord 2008

Today we began Phase 0001 of our plans for complete and total domination of the world of the living. I'm fairly certain that the livies will not know what hit them. I'm also fairly confident that my plans to inundate the planet with a fellowship of friendly, peaceful, co-existing mindful brethren of the dead will be successful.

Yes, there will be some hardships, some obstacles to overcome; but in the end, I'm firmly of the mind (mine and the one that I ate for breakfast) that I shall be victori… Continue

Makers Of Mayhem - Part 1: Halloween Is A Special Time - By Zombie Zak

Darkness swirled. Like a thing possessed, it twisted and slithered along the lines of the room searching out for the weaknesses in the solidity of form. The object in the center of the room glowed ominously as it spewed out tiny wisps of inky black smoke. Apparently unconcerned by all of this activity, the old bald man sat quietly staring at the source of the illumination, mumbling all the time in a soft, sibilant inaudible murmur. The basement of 225 Raynelight Street was large and barren of fu… Continue

Storytellers Unplugged

Three Editing Tips

So the first draft is finished, and now you have to edit the sonofabitch.

Most writers don’t particularly enjoy the task of rewriting/editing, but I do. Not sure why, but I find it sometimes more rewarding than the initial writing.

Now, for me, the best way [...]

On Getting Started

Being new to Storytellers this month, I’ve had “beginnings” on the brain. It was for this reason that I’d decided to take a look at some of the things that have motivated successful authors over the years. I’ve always been fascinated by that tiny seed that grows up to be a towering [...]

The Anatomy and Creation of a Story Pt. 2

This is an ongoing discussion of the process I use to write short stories…not that there is a set process, as it’s different each time.  I started this in “Part One” back on my personal blog, and wanted to continue here to mix up the audience as much as possible.

In part one, I discussed the [...]

“This soap box is not big enough for the both of us.”

I asked readers for topics they would like to see me address in this blog, and I got a slew of great responses, something that will keep me in columns for a few months to come.

Here’s the question that got top billing for [...]

Providence, 1986 Wayne Allen Sallee 28 November 2009

I have a road trip, of sorts, ahead of me in a few hours. A zig-zag across the transit system of Chicago. I’m heading up north, but first I have to take the 55th Street bus to an artist friend’s place and drop off a few autographed books. There is [...]
