Graveside Tales

Hey, you!

My review of 'Fried! Fast Food, Slow Deaths' appears in this month's issue of The World of Myth. Great book, by the way. Definitely not for the faint of stomach. (-:

Five forks up. That is, if I used a rating scale of forks... one being the lowest and five being the highest... it would score five forks. Possibly even five and a half, although I've never split a fork in half. Then again, there's always the spork.

Five forks and a spork up. Buy a copy.

In other news, my flash fiction, The Repo, is slated to appear in the August issue of Twisted Tongue. Meanwhile I'm keeping myself busy with several promising projects... secret squirrel.

And now I'm off to begin my next big adventure, this one involving improper grammar and the mythical 'Columbian Coffee Cat'.

Hasta la Banana!

Shhhh... secret squirrel, dude, secret squirrel.

I've never understood what that means. Is it an older expression, like back from the time before electricity? Or was it an ancient superhero, defender of all marsupials?

I dunno. My boss says it all the time. Luckily, he doesn't know about this network so I can get away with the jab.

I hear there are tons of squirrels on Choate Road... (-;

Now this is a blog that has it all. Forks, sporks, GST mojo and twisted tongues.

I am dying to find out what these secret promising projects are though! I'll check my GPS and see if it leads to Choate Road...

Thanks Jezzy for the great review. The editors were thrilled when I told them about the review.

Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders

Last year Chet Williamson was commissioned by Square/Enix, the Japanese computer game company, to write a mystery game. After having worked on it with the development team and artists for nearly a year, the game has just been released.

Gorilla, My Love

[John is suffering computer woes at the moment.  I told him I'd find something appropriate to fill his slot, and found this archived post of his from September of 2006.  Enjoy!]

A long time ago, there was this gorilla I knew. I was out of work, and the gorilla was similarly unemployed. At [...]

A novel a month?

Well, it’s November again. Halloween is done Thanksgiving is on the way (Pause here, folks, and contemplate what you have to be thankful for. The odds are there’s a good deal going right, even if there’s some negatives out there.) and a plethora of various religious celebrations are eight around the corner. Some of my [...]

The Compounds (and compound-complexes) of Style

Perhaps you believe in the soul. Perhaps you don’t, and only view a living being as a series of biological functions acting in concert.  Under either philosophy, you will view a dead body as different from a living person.  All of the physical components are there, but the core of the individual is gone.

At this [...]

What I Learned From Blogging About the Kindle

Last month, when I finally decided to “come out” about owning a Kindle, I learned two things. One, after reading some of the comments about my blog entry, I realized that I have always written about “safe” topics, ones that are least likely to stir up controversy, and heaven forbid, make [...]

Let’s Just Pretend The Last 8 Months Never Happened

Looks like it was a sabbatical after all.

Last March, after close to a three-year tenure, I hung up my Storytellers U hat — the one with the Viking horns and a beer funnel — without knowing whether this would be permanent or temporary. Couldn’t help but notice, in the interim, that lords-of-the-manor [...]
