Not one, but TWO more 5 star reviews for 'A Study in Red'

BannerFans.com
I'm over the moon to be able to report two more fantastic reader reviews for 'A Study in Red' on the site of Amazon.com These come just as the edits for 'Legacy of the Ripper' the sequel to the first book have been completed. I'm really grateful that people are still reading and enjoying the book and taking the time to add their own thoughts on it in this way. Here are the two new reviews:

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bone Chilling Read for Any Ripper Fan, June 19, 2009
By Diana Rubino "Historical and Paranormal Author" (Cape Cod, Massachusetts, United States)

Robert Cavendish is a psychiatrist who's inherited a package of papers which belonged to his great grandfather, a doctor. As he begins reading, he sees that it's a diary of sorts, and he's astonished to see that the diary mentions Jack the Ripper. He reads on, becoming convinced that this diary actually belonged to the never-apprehended serial killer himself, who brutally murdered several prostitutes in London's East End in 1888.
The diary's author goes into explicit detail about how he killed and butchered each of his victims, further disturbing and troubling Robert as he reads his great grandfather's chilling commentary interspersed throughout--he actually knew this killer!
The book ends in a surprising twist which also leaves the story open for the much-anticipated sequel which I eagerly await.
Author Brian Porter's extensive research on Jack and his explorations of the killer's motives shine on every page of this story that is impossible to put down. For the merely curious and the seasoned Ripperologist alike, A Study in Red is all at once entertaining, suspenseful, and downright creepy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jeepers Creepers, June 13, 2009
By D. Thorne (Bartlett, TN United States)

Creepy, thoughtful, creative. I don't know which captivated me more, learning the details of Jack the Ripper's crimes, or wondering what was going to happen to the narrator. A great twist on an old, but always fascinating moment in history.

Alternate reality

I’m not a 13-year-old boy from Western Maine, but I pretended to be one on the internet. That sounds a lot worse than it really is. It wasn’t an undercover sting to flush out predators. It was part of an alternate reality game (ARG) run by Scribner to promote Under the [...]

Thomas Sullivan: SEA LIONS IN COFFINS, GETTING LOST & WRITING WITHOUT WORDS

Pssst…me again.  Thought I’d check in on you.  See what kind of problems you got today.  No problems?  That’s a problem.  You’re an adventurer, a thinker, a romantic, a thrillseeker — something in a Walter Mitty fantasy that needs an adrenaline feed.  You need a problem.  Well…to be precise, you need a problem and a [...]

But You’ve Never Been There!

I like to write about places I’ve never been to.  It’s liberating, and it’s an experience that I recommend to other writers.

But wait a minute, you ask.  Don’t you have to visit places you write about?  Don’t you have to step on another country’s soil, smell the air, mingle with the inhabitants and interact with [...]

Researcher’s Hell

Now and then I sit back and contemplate the difference between myself and a few of the other writers I know. More often, I sit back and consider the differences between successful writers and those who haven’t yet reached published status. I need to clarify something here. When I say “published,” what I mean is [...]

Joyful Stress

Let me list for you some of my responsibilities.

I have a full-time job with a utility company, and while that job is staying, the location is moving… and me with it.  Starting in a month, I can expect an additional sixty minutes added to my daily commute (thirty minutes each way.)

I am planning to be [...]
